"Your approach of Acts 1, 2 and 3 ... build ideas, build instrument palette, to orchestration ... it's brilliant and I've adopted that approach ... it's an honour to learn from you."
"It's clear and detailed and I like the fact that you encourage individuality and creativity within the set process, it has helped me to focus on the details I sometimes neglect ... Thanks for the great work building the course."
"I'm starting to get a much clearer sense of how to move from piano to orchestration, and how to fill the gaps in a practical way ... Adding a cymbal at the end of a mid range instrument passage, that was a lightbulb moment. You make it look easy."
"My best film scoring teacher ever! Ian is very thoughtful and has a deep understanding of film scoring! Not only of knowledge but also understanding the relationship between music, composer and audience!"
"Studying with Ian opened up my world as a composer. His skill set and experience are so valuable, and his process makes creating music much easier. If you have the opportunity to learn from Ian I would definitely recommend you take it!"
"Ian's mentorship was transformative. His mastery of storytelling through music gave me the confidence to grow as a composer, sharpened my skills and helped me to discover my own unique voice."
IAN HONEYMAN
Ian Honeyman spent 20 years in the rooms where Hollywood film music gets made. Starting as a technical score assistant on Pirates of the Caribbean, he went on to write music for more than 60 films, series, and games, with credits spanning Netflix, Disney, and national broadcast. His work has received an ASCAP Award, multiple Hollywood Music in Media Award nominations, and contributed to Emmy winning and Oscar shortlisted projects.
He studied classical composition at the Peabody Conservatory, then moved to Los Angeles with one goal: to write music for picture at the highest level. Along the way he worked alongside some of the industry's top composers, built his own step-by-step process for writing powerful, original film music, and developed a reputation for helping other composers find their voice and do the same.
But this course is not about credits. It is about the process. The repeatable, practical process Ian developed over two decades of real productions, now taught step by step, the way it is actually done on the job. No theory for theory's sake. Just real craft from someone who has lived it.
If you are serious about finishing professional cinematic music in your own voice, this is your opportunity to learn directly from someone who has been where you are and knows exactly what it takes to move forward.
